Someone donated two wheelsets to our shop, after some closer inspection I decided to keep one set and clean it up. The hubs are clean but the eyelets on the rims are rusted so i decided to hit them with some fine sandpaper and very gently with a scotch pad:
What we have here are 1985 Suntour Superbe Pro front and rear hubs with Mavic G40 rim hoops. Superbe Pro was the top of the line Suntour groupo during the early/mid 80's until Shimano blew them out of the water. The rear hub has a 7-speed Sachs freewheel screwed on and both hubs are incredibly smooth. Along with the rust removal on the eyelets I replaced the old nipples with new Sapim nipples. Did i mention the double butted spokes on the front wheel. Can't wait to get this wheelset matched up with the proper frame and ride the crap out of it.
